Dear Parents,
Just to keep you updated about our class reward system.
In order to reward pupils for their effort in handing in homework on time, getting parent's signature promptly, remembering to bring certain ad-hoc items, answering difficult questions etc, pupils will be given a star.
Once they accumulate 10 stars, they will get a prize which could be a sticker pack, snacks or stationery.

Term 1 Week 4 Updates
Dear Parents,
1) For Mathematics, we have completed the chapter on number bonds. We will be moving on to Addition and Subtraction within ten. Please practise the various number bonds within 10 as it will aid them in their addition.
2) For English, we have completed Mrs Wishy Washy and will be moving on to Hairy Bear on Monday. Please practise on the usage of the following grammar components:-
a) subject pronouns of "he", "she", "I", "you", "we" and "they".
3) I have returned the spelling books on Friday to your child. Please look through and sign on the contents page.

Chinese New Year Celebrations
Dear Parents,
We had a wonderful Chinese New Year Celebration on 20 January 2012.
The children enjoyed all the programmes that the school had prepared. The children even contributed their coloured palm-printouts. Following are the photos taken during the event. Please enjoy!

St Luke's Hospital Hong Bao Donation Drive & +Venture magazine
Dear Parents,
ST LUKE'S HOSPITAL DONATION DRIVE
In the spirit of sharing, our school is encouraging our pupils to empathise and share their blessings.
I have given your child a calendar and hongbao from St Luke's hospital. Your child is strongly encouraged to make a small donation to the less fortunate at St Luke's.
Please return the envelopes with donations in sealed condition to me by 26 January 2012.
+Venture Math Magazine
I have also given your child a complimentary copy of +Venture Magazine. If you would like to subscribe for your child, please insert the completed subscription form with the payment of cash/cheque into an envelope and seal it for my collection by 26 January 2012.
In my opinion, this magazine is very interesting and helpful in your child's learning. It also contains additional information regarding Mathematics which opens up your child's exposure to Mathematical concepts.

1) I have returned the English Unit 1 worksheets to your child. Please look through and sign on the cover page. Please return the worksheets for filing on Wednesday, 25 January 2012.
2) I have also returned the spelling books for your signature. Please sign for week 2 and week 3's spelling on the inner content page which I have stapled at the cover. Please also return the spelling book on Wednesday, 25 January 2012.
3) I have also returned all Health Booklets. Please get it from your child's homework file and safekeep them.

1) For tomorrow, please be reminded again that the school will function from 7.15a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Your child is encouraged to be in Chinese ethnic costume or red colour t-shirt and skirt/shorts with school shoes.
2) Please bring a small bag which contains:-
a) water bottle
b) silent reading book
c) snacks / money for recess
d) colour pencils, pencils, glue stick and an eraser.
3) We have started on Unit 2, Mrs Wishy Washy. Please practise on the usage of the following grammar components:-

Collection of Money for Learning Journey and Worksheets
Dear parents,
My apologies in not being able to collect the money for the Learning Journey and Worksheets on Tuesday, 17 Jan 2012 as required in the circular that was given to your child on Monday.
The health check took longer than expected and took up much of our class time.
I will be collecting the money today. Please put the money in an envelope/ziplock bag, seal it, write down your child's name and put it in the homework file. In this way, children will not lose or use up the money easily.

Following are the updates of week 2.
Subject Updates
1) For English, we are almost finishing up the unit on the book "The Farm Concert".
For Grammar, your child should be familiar with the grammar rules and use of "a" and "an".
For Vocabulary, they should be familiar with the meanings, spelling and the usage of all the spelling words in Term 1 Week 3's Spelling List.
2) For Mathematics, we have completed Unit 1 and will be moving on to Unit 2's number bonds on either Monday or Tuesday.
3) Please be reminded that our Gym lessons are on Monday so please get your child to be in their Gym shorts.
4) Term 1 Week 3's Spelling will be held on Thursday, 19 January 2012.

Term 1 Week 1 Updates
Dear Parents,
Happenings in the class:-
a) I have given out a class letter to your child. Please read the letter in detail as there are some points that require your responses.
b) I have given out a new thermometer to your child today for his/her temperature taking exercise. I have written his/her name on it. Please get him/her to keep the thermometer in his/her pencil case. This is a 1-time issuance. You would have to buy your own thermometer should your child loses it.
c) I have given the English Spelling List for Week 1 to Week 5 on 5 January 2012. Week 2's Spelling will be held on Thursday, 12 January 2012.
d) Please submit your child's Health Booklets by Monday, 9 January 2012 if you had not done so. I would also need the Medical information form and the consent form for immunization to be in the health booklet as well.
