Term 1 Week 6 Updates
Dear Parents,
My apologies to you - I just realised that the week 6 updates post was not posted on the blog.
Week 6 Updates:-
1) I had given your child a slip of paper with the heading "Poem Recitation" last Friday, 10 February 2012. This is a practice for your child to recite a poem in front of the whole class. They should memorise the short poem so that their delivery will be smooth. Your child will present it in front of the whole class during week 8. They should also present it in this way:-
Dear Classmates,
I am going to share a poem titled "Teddy Bear" with all of you. Hope you enjoy it:-
Teddy bear with big red bows
Oh so precious! Love him so!
Snuggle up here in my bed.
Sugar kisses on his head.
In my assessment, I will be looking out for the following:-
1) projection of voice
2) Fluency and intonation
3) Body language
This is not a weighted assessment ie, it does not account any percentage for the calculation of marks in the report book. But pupils must take this recitation seriously so that they are prepared for any show and tell sessions.
2) Zoo learning journey trip will be updated in a separate post.
3) English
We have just started on "Walking through the jungle". The grammar components that they are learning are:-
a) pronouns - use of "it" and "me"
b) Prepositions - use of "in", "out", "on", "up" and "around".
c) Singular and plural nouns - eg, cake, cakes
d) Countable Nouns
4) Mathematics
We are in the midst of addition using number bonds.

Term 1 Week 5 Updates
Dear Parents,
Updates for this week:-
1. For English, we are almost completing "Hairy Bear" and going on to "Walking Through the Jungle". Our learning journey trip to the Singapore Zoological Gardens ties with very well with this story where they will learn more about animals.
2. For Mathematics, we are in the midst of addition within 10. We should be able to complete this chapter this week.
3. There is homework this weekend. All pupils are to complete all questions on page 5 and 6 of the School English Worksheet on "Hairy Bear".
4. Just a reminder that the zoo trip will be on Tuesday, 7 February 2012. All pupils will be in school at 12.30p.m. for silent reading in the hall and dismissed at 6.30p.m. as usual. Please assist to pack a lunch box with food and/or snacks for your child for their snack time at the zoo. If parents are not able to prepare lunch for them, do give them some pocket money so that they can buy snacks or bread from the canteen. I will not allow them to browse at the gift shops nor buy food from the food kiosks or KFC. We want to maximise the exploring time so they can see more exhibits and animal shows.
Regards,
Mdm Lee
