Learning Journey to Queenstown Library - 13 August 2012

Dear Parents,

I have given out a consent form to all pupils for our Learning Journey to Queenstown Library yesterday. Please sign and return to me by 7 August 2012.

We will leave school at 1.30p.m. and return at 3.30p.m. The pupils will be having their recess at 3.30p.m. when they are back at HPPS. Lessons will continue as per timetable from 4p.m. onwards so all pupils have to bring their books as per usual. The pupils will just bring along their wallets and water bottles with them on this trip. Please give your child a plastic bag or foldable recycling bag to contain the library books if you are allowing your child to borrow the books.

Your child will be listening to a sharing session from the librarians and also to explore around the library to borrow books if he/she wishes to so please let your child bring along their student identification card (EZ Link Card) or National Library Cards.

Show and Tell Assessment (Week 6)

Dear Parents,

During week 6, we will have a weighted show and tell assessment, ie, this show and tell carries a weightage of 10% in the whole year assessment of English Language as reflected in the report book.

I have given all pupils the Notes for Preparation to help everyone to know what to prepare and what to expect for.

For this Thursday, 26 July, I will get all of them to bring the photograph and have an "informal rehearsal" with their classmates.

Do help your child to prepare for this assessment and have rehearsals with term so that they would be more accustomed to public speaking.

Spelling is mostly conducted on Mondays with the exception of some days where public or school holidays fall on Mondays.

For your ease of reference, I have attached the speling lists in this post.

Do email me if you have any questions.

Book Day

Dear Parents,

As part of the English week, we will have "Book Day" during Term 3, Week 2. This is a day where 2 chosen pupils from each class will be dressed in their favourite character from their favourite book and take part in a pageant of "Dress-and-Tell"

During term 3, week 1, your child will have to bring their favourite book and the costumes that represents their favourite character. Then they need to talk about their favourite character eg, name, character, background etc and why they like this character. This will be done in class and I will choose the best 2 to represent our class.

For eg, if their favourite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone, then they should bring that book and the wizard's costume. Then they can tell me about Harry's family background, his friends etc. and why they like him.

For eg, if their favourite book is Snow White and the Seven Drawfs, then they should bring that book and snow white's costume. Then they can tell me about Snow White's family background, her seven dwarfs etc. and why they like her.

Just send me a note if you have any questions. Enjoy the holidays in the meantime! :)

Mdm Lee
